The contractor was about 6’4”, a little shorter than Dr. Wolf, but was practically as wide as the entire door frame. He was wearing a navy blue coverall that seemed barely capable of getting over his massive shoulders and broad chest and extending down to his work boots. He had a reddish beard with bits of gray in it, matching the salty dusting he had on top. Even his neck was thick, holding up his giant head! The massive man introduced himself as Mr. Marko, or Cain as he offered for Danny to call him. Danny was still in shock by the man’s size, he could hardly get words out to welcome him in. Cain could tell the boy was a little out of his element, but proceeded professionally and asked to see the basement. Danny explained that he was only housesitting but showed him where the HVAC part of the basement was. Cain made a friendly joke about the heat, making Danny a little more comfortable. Danny left Cain to do his work, trying not to get in the way or make anything worse, but he couldn’t stop thinking about the behemoth working downstairs. Danny wanted to talk to him, to be friendly and social, but he knew his insane attraction would just make him come off like a fool. After an hour or so of sweating from the heat (and the obsessing), Danny thought it would be an appropriate way to talk to him by bringing him some water! It was a little silly, but he was happy to have any excuse.
